X to the Beginning!

Well!  I can say that I did enjoy that trip backward to get a greater understanding about how it all began.  There were some necessary clarifications and explanations given, although I did feel that there were a few holes left in the scene.  However, I do believe that the movie was a good one!

X-Men:  First Class began in World War II era Europe, with a young Erik Lensherr (Michael Fassbender) trapped in a Nazi concentration camp.  Their scientists had been studying Erik, observing that he seemed capable of moving and warping metal with the power of his mind.  It reaches a point where Erik is pressured by one scientist to bend metal in order to save his mother.  The tension does not allow him to do so, and Nazi soldiers murder his mother.  This enrages Erik, and he proceeds to kill Nazi soldiers that are guarding him.

England of World War II era is where young Charles Xavier (James Mc Avoy), gets acquainted with Raven Darkholme (Jennifer Lawrence).  She is homeless, and young Charles takes her to his home.  His family adopts Raven.  Only Charles and Raven know that they are different from other people.

The Las Vegas, Nevada area is where Moira MacTaggert is working with The C.I.A., and they are tracking mutants.  Assisted by The U.S. Army, they find some that include Azazel and Emma Frost in an area club.  Azazel uses powers of teleportation to move one government agent from Las Vegas to a government secret location, where the agent is killed by the mutant Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon).

MacTaggert continues research on mutants, and she seeks advice from the young educator, Charles Xavier.  She convinces Xavier, along with step-sister Raven, to accompany her to visit with her director.  This person has been leading a quest to capture mutants, convinced that all of them are a threat to society.

The mutants and the military proceed to find Sebastian Shaw.  He is at a club with Azazel (Jason Flwmyng) and Emma Frost (January Jones).  A fight breaks out, where Sebastian murders a government soldier who was with MacTaggert and an Army colonel.  Azazel teleports another officer into the government war room, where they learn that The U.S. is in the process of increasing it’s nuclear arsenal in an effort to build a military site in Turkey.

MacTaggert joins with Charles Xavier and Raven Darkholme.  The meet with government agents in an effort to convince the officials that mutants are within the nation, and that they need to be recognized.  They point out the danger of Sebastian Shaw, who absorbs people’s energy to commit violent acts.  However, after Army Colonel Hendry is told about Shaw, Shaw kills the colonel, then reveals himself to be the maniacal doctor who murdered Erik Lensherr’s mother!

MacTaggert, Raven, and Charles Xavier have linked in their quest to find other mutants.  They work with Charles, as he uses his new mutant-locating device called Cerebro.  The device is able to locate Alex Summers, Angel Salvadore, and Sean Cassidy.  Later, Xavier has to work with Erik to catch Emma Frost, who had been giving information to The Soviets!

The nuclear threat between The United States and The U.S.S.R. elevates, and the national government attempts to create a blockade in order to prevent the shipment of Russian nuclear missiles to Cuba.  Sebastian Shaw wants a war to begin, and he uses tactics to destroy a Russian submarine in an effort to make it seeem as if The U.S. is guilty.  Xavier’s telepathic powers are blocked by a metal helmet that Shaw wears, but Xavier is able to use powers to have the missile-shipping submarine stopped before it reaches Cuba!

The jet that in which the mutants flew, and the submarine, wound up colliding as Erik used powers of magnetism to lift the sub from the sea.  Shaw began to fight Erik, yet Erik got hold of Shaw’s metallic helmet.  Erik then used powers of magnetism, taking a coin to kill Shaw, much to the dismay of his friend, Charles Xavier.

U.S. submarines near the Cuban coast prepare for a possible Soviet attack.  As the events of the mutants are occurring, the U.S. vessels fire missiles toward Cuba.  Erik is at the Cuban coastline, where he uses his magnetic powers to redirect the missiles toward the U.S. submarines.  Charles is able to stop the missiles from striking the submarines by using his powers, yet he is struck in the head by a bullet that Moira MacTaggert was firing at Erik!  The bullet impacted Charles’ spine, leaving him paralyzed!

At the conclusion, Erik goes with Raven,  and mutants that were sentimental with his line of thought.  Charles returns to his mansion, and he chooses to open a school for “gifted” students.  Erik breaks Emma Frost free from government capture, and he opts to become Magneto!

Movie Poster

Super 8 seems very interesting, opening this coming Friday!  Also,  Green Lantern trailers are getting more exciting!  It seems as if it is going to take a full view into the storyline, adapting the full comics tale to the cinema screen.  Ryan Reynolds plays Hal Jordan, Earth’s inductee to The Green Lantern Corps!

This latest Transformers movie, Transformers:  Dark of the Moon, is looking hot, too!  It seems as if it is going to be as good as it’s predecessors, eventhough Megan Fox will NOT be in the movie!  VERY SAD!!!  Yet, Jim Carrey in Mr. Popper’s Penguins certainly will brighten the screen, opening June 17!

August will include Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Fright Night, and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.  Other films on the way include Cowboys and Aliens, Captain America:  The First Avenger,  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:  Part 2, Larry Crowne, and Real SteelMovies, movies!!!

       Thanks, Joy Behar!
