Friday, Friday!    I was looking forward to seeing both of these movies, as the trailers for them brought excitement about what would be presented on the big screen.  The first film was awaited because it is a three-quel, and both of it’s predecessors were very enjoyable.  The second film was a science-fiction adventure that added a little spice to fans of such genre like myself!

Madagascar 3:  Europe’s Most Wanted was the opener!  The story began in Africa, as Alex (Ben Stiller), Gloria (Jada Pinkett-Smith), Marty (Chris Rock), and Melman (David Schwimmer) appeared as images within a dream of Alex’s.  He later awakens, at home in Central Park Zoo, as it is his birthday.  As Gloria has a cake prepared for Alex, he wishes for a return to Africa!

Alex wants to go to Port Monte Carlo, Monaco to get the help of the penguins to get back to Africa.  The friends reach a casino party, finding the flightless avians, then ending up at a human party.  Guards focus on catching them, but the penguins help them escape!  The penguins deploy an escape hatch, as the animals get to a van, then they drive away!

An auto accident occurs, and the group has to fight a lady guard.  They manage to reach Monte Carlo, landing in a flight hanger.  There, the monkeys are hanging out, along with the lemurs King Julien (Sacha Baron Cohen) and Maurice (Cedric the Entertainer).  The monkeys fly the plane, getting the group into the air, and en route to Africa.  They have to cut loose a female security guard who was hanging onto the plane, trying to catch them!

The group winds up in Monaco, then proceed to Rome, where they interact with circus animals.  It is here that the friends come up with the plan to pose as additional circus acts.  This idea works for them, as they interact with other animals who assist them with getting in flight to New York City!

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

The following film was Prometheus!  This film by Ridley Scott follows travellers aboard the spaceship Prometheus.  It is the year 2089, when romancing scientists Elizabeth (Noomi Rapace) and Charlie (Logan Marshall-Green) locate a series of stellar charts from different acient cultures around the planet.  The charts are identical, suggesting that each of these cultures was visited by the same group of extraterrestrials at some point in Earth’s ancient history!

A billionaire scientist named Peter (Guy Pearce) runs his own Weyland Corporation.  He devises the spaceship Prometheus, and he intends to have scientists board it in order to guide it along one of the space charts.  They travel in deep sleep to a distant moon, as their vessel is guided by an android pilot called David (Michael Fassbender).

When they reach the moon, the scientists have to find a group of beings who are presumed to be the ancestors of humanity, called The Engineers.  They find several stone figures, which include body features thought to resemble those of The Engineers.  A dangerous weather system approaches, so the team returns to Prometheus.  However, two members of the team, Fifield (Sean Harris) and Milburn (Rafe Spall), wind up trapped on the moon

Fifield and Milburn end up being attacked by alien snakes. Milburn dies, and the others find his body.  In that same place, David enters a chamber where an Engineer is in cryogenic sleep.  Also, there is a stellar chart that indicates an alien mission to Earth was being planned.  As David reviews the map, he purposely infects Charlie with an alien virus, intending to study it’s effects on humans!

DNA of one of The Engineers has been found, and the scientists are shocked/surprised to learn that it is identical to human DNA.  David uses the stellar chart, sharing details with Fifield, who now is low on psychological control due to having been on several trips into outer space.  Then, David infects Charlie with an alien fluid!

David’s dead body is found by the crew when they return to the ship.  Fifield has been mutated by the alien snake bites, and an accompanying dementia leads him to attack the crew.  He kills many of his ship mates, then he is killed.  It is recognized that David had ingested some of “the dark liquid”, which is a biologically-attacking tool used to eliminate enemies.

The crew return to find The Engineer, who now is piloting an alien spaceship.  The Engineer gets into a fight with them, as it kills David and Peter!  Elizabeth manages to escape The Engineer, and she works with Janek to stop Engineer’s escape vessel by slamming Prometheus into it as they are flying.  Meredith winds up being killed in the crash, and The Engineer proceeds to hunt after Elizabeth!

As The Engineer and Elizabeth fight, she gets hold of an alien biological organism in testing, and she inserts it into the mouth of The Engineer.  This stops it from proceeding to fight Elizabeth, as she goes to recover a half-destroyed David.  Both of them get onto a spaceship that belonged to The Engineer, and they fly it to it’s home planet.  There, David and Elizabeth find out how prehistoric Engineers worked to create humanity, and why they wanted to elimitate our species!
