A Fantastic and Fast Friday of Films!

May 26, 2013 at 12:57 AM (current news, human life issues, movie reviews, public debate, social opinion, web gossip)

It actually was an exciting evening at the theater!  I was anticipating each one of these features, as the trailers for both of them added to the energy provided by all of the output from the ads presented.  I was satisfied!

Scuffling through a crowd, we got seats for Epic!  Many were eager to see this animated feature, which presented the voices of several popular celebrities.  It began with a teenaged girl named Mary Katherine (Amanda Seyfried) talking to her dad, Professor Bomba (Jason Sudeikis) about her youth.  Their discussion leads into talk of his scientific work, involving a curious research for mysterious and miniature soldiers outside!

Mary Katherine, who goes by MK, winds up in an argument with her dad.  She leaves a note for him, then ends up chasing her dog into the yard.  There, MK end up in a nearby wooded area, and she sees a miniature being falling.  Unbeknownst to MK, it is Tara (Beyoncé Knowles), queen of the forest.  Tara gives a pod to MK, then magically shrinks her.  Tara has MK to carry this pod to Nim Galuu (Steven Tyler).

Once Queen Tara passes. MK joins with Grub (Chris O’Dowd) and Mub (Aziz Ansari), who accompany her with Nim Galuu.  He takes Tara and her company to the magic scrolls.  There, MK learns about Queen Tara’s message, and about how to return to normal size.  Afterward, MK is taken by Nod (Josh Hutcherson), while the evil leader Mandrake (Christoph Waltz) traps Mub and Grub!

MK now needs the help of her dad!  A full moon is about to cause the growth of a pod at the royal palace, yet the bats of the evil Mandrake prevent their sprouting.  The villainous leader attempts to reach the pod, and he is interrupted by Mub and Nim Galuu.  However, they are unsuccessful in stopping him!  Mandrake nearly is stopped by Ronin, then Ronin regroups with Nod and the others to stand against Mandrake in the moonlight!  It is then that the evil leader is trapped within a tree, the forest is healed, and Queen Tara’s chosen heir is recognized as a flower child!

We followed up with the adventure of Fast & Furious 6!  D0m (Vin Diesel) last left leading his crew with the ends shifted from a millionaire gang kingpin.  His group split the funds and scattered around the globe, yet they got greedy, spending their loot wildly.

Detective Hobbs (Dewayne Johnson) had been tracing another group of gangster racers around the globe, who were lead by a thief named Shaw (Luke Evans).  A twist is thrown in when it is learned that Shaw is working criminally and romantically with the romantic connection of Dom.  She is a gangstress named Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), whom Dom believed was dead!

Hobbs only can defeat this criminal element by playing by their rules.  He meets with Dom, getting him to gather his gang in London, and setting up a race.  Dom and his crew will receive full pardons if they win (which they do…), and the door is left open for another possible episode!
