Certainly, this is a subject that humanity has been following for generations. I will admit to possibly salivating in heat to know the actual answer to this long-pressed question. Is there life out there?
Surely, this is something that every human being with any inkling of intellectual capacity wants to acknowledge. Is Planet Earth the only planet, of ALL OF THE PLANETS IN THE UNIVERSE, that hosts life? The mere notion of that seemingly is ridiculous! Yet, besides all of the rumors and hearsay, after all of the quandaries and queries, many of us really want to know whether or not there is anyone, anything else ALIVE out there in the vastness of the cosmos.
Browsing The Internet brought me to the e-article Will We Find Extraterrestrial Life In 2015. The author’s immediate response was “Probably not, but just possibly yes”. Now, just what in The Hell is that supposed to say?!?!
I recognize that life, as we understand it, requires certain, almost precise conditions, in order for it to form, to evolve, to thrive, et cetera. Yet, who is to say that other forms of life can not exist based upon some other bases of existence that we have yet to comprehend? As far as I know, we have NOT travelled all throughout the universe, let alone The Milky Way, so we are basing the manners of life-thriving on how we understand it from an Earth-bound perspective. That method of living might NOT always be the case in other places of the universe. Rebuttal?
Going into this e-article, the author delves into our recent, scientific studies of Mars. The rover Curiosity was able to pick up traces of methane in the Martian atmosphere. That small trace-emission of gas is the slightest of possibilities that life could have existed on The Red Planet at some point in it’s past! That seems to sound so blatantly dull and irrelevant, yet knowing whether or not any life was on Mars surely will mean that life certainly can exist at any other location throughout our Milky Way Galaxy. Our key would be just to locate the precise planetary systems, star systems, and to learn their distances in relation to Earth, so that we are able to study them!
Jupiter’s Europa and Saturn’s Enceladus are attracting recent attention. These are two of the larger moons of the two largest worlds of our solar system, and they seem to be massive worlds covered with ice. Some scientists are believing that enormous oceans exist beneath these ice shells. Even greater leaps of speculation (hope?) would lead some to suggest that aquatic life could exist within the oceans of these lunar worlds! Liquid water also is suspected to exist beneath Jupiter’s Ganymede, Saturn’s Titan, as well as worlds at the edge of the solar system such as Eris and Pluto!
This is just from the beginner’s basic exploration of our own solar system. There is an entire, massive star-filled galaxy, complete with millions of other worlds all around us! On top of that, there are likely millions of other galaxies out there! It would be beyond absurd to suggest that there is no life at some place, some nook, in some location of space that we simply have NOT seen, are NOT aware of, at this time!
Embrace our inferiority! It will be a while, at least, before we actually get to discover the truth about other worlds, and whether or not they host living beings. We can not even get back to our own friggin’ moon, let alone anywhere else in our solar system. Dare NOT mention any manner of voyage to any location to another star system. NO. Not now.

We will keep looking…..
It’s been a minute! The blog thing has not exactly been the top of the list of activities. Yet, there is always so much of interest that deserves discussion, review; someone needs to put it out there for conversational spark! This one recent topic of interest certainly should get motors revving….
Located some 490 light years away from our beloved Mother Earth exists the world that we have dubbed as Kepler 186f! As is what is with the norm with N.A.S.A. scientists and collective cohorts, the search for extra-solar planets and alien life progresses. It seems that a recent burst of luck has fallen upon the researchers, as the discovery of this distant planet is rousing levels of excitement about the possibilities of a world with similarities of life-harboring capacities nearly equivalent to that of our precious Earth!
Kepler 186f is being called “Earth’s cousin”! The planet is a mere ten percent larger than our world. It is seemingly special because it just might be able to hold liquid water upon it’s surface. The world exists in The Goldilocks Zone from it’s host star, Kepler 186 (where things are not too hot and not too cold…). This makes the planet extra-exclusive because of the premise that the water just might actually be there! Where there is water, there likely is bound to be life!
We as a species have been wondering since the dawn of our existence as to whether or not we are alone in this universe! One of the first steps to answering that question likely will be locating another world in the universe that will be capable of sustaining a manner of life as we would understand it. If indeed Kepler 186f is that world, then a great barrier has been breached!
Indeed, being 490 light years away from us, we are NOT going to get there! We can send our probes to study this planet for further generations to have details about it. Hopefully, our successors will have survived us, our Earth will still be in tact, and they can send probes, even people to explore this world! Dare I suggest the topic of extra-solar exploration, colonization (after we have colonized Mars, Europa, and areas of the outer solar system….)?
Of course, all of this will take years of additional study, planning, financial contribution, political hullabaloo, et cetera. However, the ultimate goal should be the acknowledgement of the recognition about the existence of other worlds in this universe that do host life! We can hopefully, finally, get to a fact that Earth is NOT alone!

I really get somewhat upset when journalists and semi-scientists post information about so-called “other Earths” having been located in other places throughout the galaxy. That is not the exact truth. No other world has yet to be located that is anything akin to our Earth. Water has NOT been found anywhere else outside of Earth. Life has NOT been found anywhere else outside of Earth. As these are the main things that classify Earth as Earth, classifying anything else as such is erroneous!
Anyhow. An article from Yahoo/Reuters gives details about a recent information release from a N.A.S.A. space probe. Apparently, this particular probe has been on it’s voyage for some time, and it has passed a distance of 900 million miles beyond Saturn. The probe was able to reverse it’s positioning in order to photograph images of the solar system behind it. One captivating picture was that of Planet Earth, in the distance!
Scientists working with The Jet Propulsion Laboratory at Pasadena, California are constantly reviewing and studying information that is received from satellites about what is occurring within outer space. Recent researches are recognizing that our beloved Earth is little more than a dot among countless dots in the night sky, as depicted by Cassini. The actual image of Earth and her moon take up no more than the space of one pixel!
Renowned scientific researcher Carolyn Porco has stated that the imaging of Earth from this distant vantage “underscores our coming of age as planetary explorers”. Dr. Porco has directed the Cassini imaging program with The Space Science Institute at Boulder, Colorado. It is, perhaps, that the images of Cassini from Saturn are giving humanity the necessary boost of enthusiasm for further reviews and attempts at exploring our solar system. Certainly the magnificence of the images by the Cassini probe are undeniable, and they surely can be taken as catalysts for the next steps in human advancement toward a truly space-faring society.
The reverse images made by Cassini are supposed to have been a rare occurrence! Space probes within the distant reaches of the solar system do not aim backward, so that their instruments are not damaged by rays from The Sun. However, Cassini was able to turn around for it’s picturing of Saturn because of the gargantuan gas giant temporarily blocking our star’s powerful beams from the probe’s line of sight.

Something is out there, damn it! One of these days, sooner or later, we will find out who, or what it is (whether we like it, or not…)! With strange signals popping off in the distance, one can not help but to be intrigued by what is being displayed. I am the cat, after all…… (I heard that).
It does seem that there are some strange signals being sent our way, from the depths of the unknown. It began during 2007, when a team of scientists was studying signals from an unknown area of our Milky Way Galaxy. This initial study produced results that lasted merely one or two seconds. A subsequent effort was made to track these same signals during 2011, yet that attempt was without merit.
Currently, there seem to be around 10,000 radio wave signals being received daily by telescopes here on Earth that are equipped to receive deep space emissions. At present, these recently discovered radio signals remain mysterious. However, it has been recognized as fact that these signals are truly occurring, and that they are real!
Parkes Radio Telescope and Parkes Observatory are being centered as the location for enhanced research geared toward deep space radio emissions tracking, along with similarly related astronomy fields of study. Studies at Parkes have lead to the reception of four additional and mysterious signal bursts! Scientists who studied these bursts have concluded that the emissions occur regularly, and that they occur all throughout the universe!
As these emissions remain mysterious, scientists are bolstered in there efforts to study them because they now know where to find them. Future studies will reveal the mechanics behind the bursts. The immediate presentations of the information have given evidence that can be studied to renowned minds like Dr. Stephen Hawking. He is of the current impression that these bursts could be the emissions of dissolving, evaporating black holes!
As Dr. Hawking is Dr. Hawking, he probably is right! Yet, the evidence is not solid, so they still are doing the research. Meanwhile, the ongoing outlook progresses, and all frequency stations will remain tuned!

I have to believe that it is a good thing that there are intelligent and inquisitive people who are continuously delving into studies of such intrigue! Surely, it has to take some time and work for these kinds of results to be produced with such seeming accuracy and allure. The information that is being released is so fantastic and phenomenal that it certainly must attract the attention of any who come across the details presented!
Details that have been published within the recent edition of The Astrophysical Journal provide data about what is being labeled as the smallest galaxy to be discovered, yet! It has been entitled as Segue 2. This is a dwarf-spiral galaxy, and it is a satellite galaxy of our Milky Way. It is said to be filled with stars that mostly are ancient, having been formed more than twelve billion years in the past. Scientific speculation has presented the supposition that Segue likely was one of the first galaxies to have been formed ever, with it’s stars being among the first ever to shimmer within all of space-time!
Current studies of Segue 2 are leading to more detailed studies of dark matter. This is the theoretical matter that is alleged to compose nearly eighty-five percent of all matter within the entire universe! First identified in the early twentieth century by scientific minds like Fritz Zwicky, dark matter continues to captivate the minds of the scientific community, while there has been no direct identification of it, or contact with it.
Dark matter is relevant in the study of Segue 2 in that it is alleged to be the primary bonding force of this galaxy’s structure. Scientists working with The University of California – Irvine have observed Segue 2, finding that it is a galaxy of little actual mass, and containing slightly more than one thousand stars, at most. Their studies go further, proposing that the galaxy is held in tact by dark matter.
As a dwarf-spiral galaxy, Segue 2 is far smaller than our Milky Way. However, it is believed to have a greater density than our home galaxy. This is due to it having slightly more than one thousand stars within it, yet being filled with dark matter. It is due to the presence of a dark matter halo that the stars within Segue 2 remain in place, allowing the collection to maintain the classification of galaxy.
Currently, researchers are combining skills and information to get more clarified results from the studies of Segue 2. Scientists working with The University of California – Irvine are reviewing information about this galaxy, while seeming intrigued at it’s small size, yet intense density. Their studies are providing new light into how dark matter works, and the possibility of a not-yet discovered subatomic particle, which also may play a role in how structures like entire galaxies contain and maintain mass. The scientists look into details of Segue 2 with awe, as some have said that it’s discovery has been like finding an elephant that is smaller than a mouse!

I am not sure that many people were aware, but The Moon was smacked, recently! It was this past March when our natural satellite was hit by a speeding meteroid. No signifcant damage was done, yet there was an explosion that created a flare which lasted long enough for scientists to study the scene.
Last Friday, N.A.S.A. went ahead and released a report about what happened. It was March 17 when observers with our national space program reported seeing an explosion on the lunar surface. A meteoroid which was reported to be less than one meter wide and weighing roughly forty kilograms struck The Moon at a racing rate of 56,000 miles per hour! Experts with N.A.S.A. stated that the impact shimmered with a glare equivalent to a 4th magnitude star!
Impacts from space debris and meteorites are common, as these objects are flying through space all of the time. Earth and The Moon indeed are pelted by these objects, regularly. It is that, while Earth can eliminate the vast majority of them by dissolving them by the strength of a powerful atmosphere, The Moon has no such protective cover to keep objects from striking it’s surface. It is due to this fact that any objects hurtling through space and reaching The Moon will impact it, and will leave a resulting scar.
The impact of the meteroid indeed created an explosion, despite the lack of oxygen necessary to produce fire! Scientists with N.A.S.A. reported that a flash of light from the impact came from the glow of the molten rock at the instant of the impact. At that very moment, there was the energy and the heat needed to produce the moment of fire, though surely it did not last long!
